Rick Robbins has over twenty five years of experience in the active practice of golf course design, land planning and project management. His degree in Environmental Design in Landscape Architecture is from North Carolina State University. He is a licensed landscape architect in several states, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and the Urban Land Institute.

Rick's work experience includes some of the top firms in the field of golf course design and community development. His career began with the firm of von Hagge & Devlin, Inc. where he was Vice President and Lead Designer. During his 13 years with von Hagge & Devlin, Rick played an important part in the design and master planning of over 25 major golf course developments in the U.S. and Mexico. Projects such as: the Doral Country Club - Silver Course, in Miami, Florida; the North & West Courses at The Woodlands Country Club in Houston, Texas; Admiral's Cove East Course in Jupiter, Florida; and Tucson National Country Club in Tucson, Arizona; are just a few of the courses reflecting the quality of Rick's work.

In 1986, Rick left von Hagge & Devlin to become Vice President of Planning & Golf Course Development for Nicklaus/Sierra Development Corporation, the real estate and community development division of Golden Bear International. Rick's responsibilities included monitoring golf course construction schedules, complete responsibility for golf course budgets, master planning of new developments, and coordinating all golf course construction activities with those of the adjacent subdivision. Rick's contributions can be seen in Wynstone Country Club in Chicago, Illinois; English Turn in New Orleans, Louisiana; and Avila Golf & Country Club in Tampa, Florida.

In 1990, Jack Nicklaus asked Rick to join Nicklaus Design as Senior Design Associate in the Hong Kong office. His responsibilities included golf course design for his own projects as well as assisting other design associates, as necessary, in the design and implementation of their projects. Rick worked closely with Jack and other members of the Nicklaus organization on the design of such courses as Laem Chabang International in Thailand, Miramar Linkou in Taiwan and Tsubata Golf Club in Japan.

In 1991, Rick formed his own company, Robbins & Associates, International, to focus on providing complete master planning, golf course design and project management services for projects in the Far East and U.S. markets. Since that time, he has designed many courses, resorts and golf communities in the Far East (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China and Turkey) as well as the U.S. In 1993, he joined forces with Gary Koch to form Robbins/Koch Golf Designs, Inc. to provide golf course design services on occasions when the marketing of the project would benefit from having the attachment of a PGA player involved. Their most recent collaboration, Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane, North Carolina was named, "Best New Course" in North Carolina by the golf panel of North Carolina magazine and was named the 6th Best New Affordable Public Golf Course in the U.S. by Golf Digest Magazine. In addition, Robbins & Associates received an award for the design of the master plan of the 640-acre community as the Best Master Planned Community of over 300 acres in the Research Triangle Region.

In Spring 2000, Rick was accepted into the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) as an Associate Member.
